The news that 3D printers are making the visor masks to protect healthcare professionals from the virus is one of the most significant initiatives to combat the pandemic of COVID 19. In just a few days, 3D printers, laboratories, incubators, companies and volunteers from Serbia and Croatia organized to support the initiative and selflessly assist our heroes-medical staff on a daily basis.
The aim of the action is to provide those in close fight with the pandemic with the best possible protection against the COVID-19 virus. In discussions with healthcare professionals, the idea came up that specific visor masks could provide the much needed protection. These masks completely cover the face of the user, protecting against drip virus transmission, and as they can be disinfected, the masks are reusable.
Throughout this action, the entire team of project “XBIT – Cross-Border IT Network for Competitiveness, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, funded under the 1st CfP of the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia-Serbia 2014-2020, is making great contribution by employing the capacities that were created thanks to the project. Equipment and materials procured through the project in Croatia and Serbia are used for the design of protective visor masks, giving the opportunity to Startit Indjija, iDEAlab Novi Sad and the Business Incubator Osvit from Donji Miholjac to put all their capacities into this noble action. In the last 7 days, since the start of the campaign, a total of 350 visor masks have been successfully dispatched, and in the upcoming days additional 700 pieces will be prepared for distribution, which will allow at least 1000 healthcare workers from more than 30 health institutions in Croatia and Serbia to work fully protected. And that’s only the start…
Congratulations, XBIT! Keep doing good things for the community!
